We are watching Super Why and revising the sequence of ABCs

Went to the park at 12noon and played til 3:10pm before going home.

WK slept on the way back and mum cooked dinner. Now we are doing our homework

2008 Mar 30

In the morning we went to PW and choose two small potatoes to plant in our pot

Then we went to Westfield Oakridge as it was v hot. We got 2 small watering pots for 19cents each. and 2 big easter baskets to play in the bath tub. We took 2 rides on the arcade rides.

2008 Mar 29

Funny thing is I cant remember what we did today except for WW being cranky at Walmart because he could not have another apple pie.

WW called Petsmart the fish shop.

We unearthed the big potato that we planted in the garden and it has grown v big. WW calls it the "silly potato"

2008 Mar 28

Went to park at 2pm and left at 3.30pm because mum said there were too many dark clouds. We went Safeway and by the time we leave Safeway, the rain has come and gone. we got home and play some more.

2008 Mar 25

Went to the bank to get daddy's bank problem fixed. Then we go to Borders for our storytime.

We went to De Anza Park but it was too hot so we only got to play for a short while. Then we went to Toys R Us. They were renovating so we had to change our poo poo in a temporary toilet. it was good for mummy though because the baby changing table area was big.

We played with a few new toys at the store than fought over the train table. Mum chase us to Target and we played I Spy along the way. WW found lots of stop sign. We played there until Daddy came to drive us home.

Discipline Issues

Time Outs

They work in that my boys understand that their behaviour is not acceptable. But they do not stop them from doing whatever is not acceptable

Taking their toys away

That does not work as they will just play with the blankets and pillows.

2008 Mar 24

Patio 15 Indoor 18 Windy

We are watching Thomas DVD as usual as WW chose it. Then we played and fight over Legos. We even forgot to ask for breakfast

We wont being obedient today so mummy say no playground for us

2008 Mar 23

Enjoyable picnic at Leo Ryan Park. We went there early to secure a parking lot. Then we get to stroll round the park.

We watched impatiently as the volunteers from the Lions Club scattered lots of choc candies on the grass for us to pick up later. We cant wait to dash in and grab.

We grab the minute the hunt started. we grab lots of candies and happily ate some while watching the paddle boats on the lake.

Then we head to San Mateo Downtown to take a stroll. Nothing interesting there though

2008 Mar 22

Very dissappointing easter egg hunt at Hillview (Los Altos). We will not able to get any eggs and alot of kids didnt get any either.

Fun play area at the park next to the egg hunt. The play area was stated for age 2-5. They have a barnyard structure and train structures for kids. We of cos try the trains first then head for the barnyard.

Then we went to Whole Foods for our easter fun. We decorated our easter bunny cookies and dye our eggs. We happily ate our cookies and brought the eggs home.

Moving homes

We have moved homes many times in 2yrs. It was a stressful experience. Good for lossing weight except that my BMI was low already. We have stayed the longest in our current home and hopefully no need to move anytime soon.

Funny thing was the home I grew up in has a kitchen big enough for a dining table for 5 and still have a dining room in the home. However the newer apartments all did not have space for dining table in the kitchen even though we still having a dining room. Maybe thats why kitchen islands and bar counters are so common in apartments here.

Another funny thing was that I always wanted a balcony/patio and now I have a patio garden.

Battle with ANTS

We had ants problem for quite some time. Its irritating the way they come after our food in winter when its too cold to go out and you are left staring at the amount of ants at home.

Aspartame,

Seems to work for awhile. saw a reduction in ants for a few days but they came back and they learn to avoid the aspartame.

Ant killer,

Seems to work too but too early to tell.

Homeschooling

I slept, daydream through most of my classes in primary school. did my own craftwork during english class for secondary school and was bored in junior college.

So maybe homeschooling was not such a bad idea for my boys who probably take after both of us. likely to be playing hard during their elementary school years.

The first thing that probably make me find out more about homeschooling here is that WW likes to learn lots of things, is very curious but dont like school. So we need to somehow make sure he knows his ABCs, 123s and whatever academic that is needed to be on par with his peers. The good thing about CA is that there is so much less pressure here on the young kids. its ok to be just ahead of state standards instead of being ahead of all your neighbours. That really help me enjoy my kids more as I dont need to spend 100% of my time comparing the IQ of my kids with other kids.

I do hope to improve their emotional quotient and their resilence though. But I dont know how much is genetic and how much is nurture. WW is as stubborn as me. I hope he "converts" that stubborness to resilence. WK has higher EQ so far, maybe 2nd born tend to have higher EQ because they get to practise their EQ since day one.

Common In-laws Issues

This is just to vent off steam. Not good to be a "presure cooker". Also problems do not seems so big when they are listed.

1) Getting unwanted items
- stressful when u already dont have space for essentials
- 15 % (mainly frustrating)
- Gift cards or Ang Pow is still the best
- Straight Cash is always wonderful but thats something we ask our own parents not in-laws

2) Getting unwanted comments & advice & complaints
- not just in-laws from strangers too
- 80 % (mainly upsetting + some frustration at why people cannot age gracefully)

Maybe because my parents do not like to complain and my paternal aunts love complaining, so it really gets on my nerves when anybody can find things to complain at least once everyday

3) Different food taste
- Asian saying of one kitchen cannot have two cooks (harder since I dont eat Beef and prefer non-leafy vegetables)
- good for losing lots of weight since I am too picky on food, easily lose 1lb/day
- 2% (irritating but not frustrating)

4) Having to "entertain" them
- Its Asian culture to be respectful to in-laws whether u like them or not.
- its not in-laws fault but more of being tired out making sure they are ok while they are guest in our house. especially when kids are cranky or just in their "I dont want to listen to you" mode
- 3% (mainly tiring, also because I get easily tired when I dont have my daily stroll)

Outdoors Noon 18/64 Evening 12/54

We did footprint art today at the library courtyard. The fountain area was wet so we step on the puddle of water gently and then created rainbow and other patterns with our footprints. It was really fun.

We went for storytime today and the theme was rats. The librarian has 5 mice finger puppets and we sang lots of songs and pretended to be mice. Our favorite song was the "bounce bounce squek". It was about this mouse that loves to bounce on the furniture in the house and so the mouse would go bounce bounce squek. It was fun making noise in story room.

We color and then went out to play with our new basketball. The grass was wet before story time so mum ask us to play with the ball after storytime when the sun has dry up the grass.

Met a indian lady from the same country. She grew up in Marine Dr and moved to Admiralty. We were talking about where to buy and eat our favourite indian foods.

We run around the courtyard and jump until we were tired. Than mum push us for a stroller ride to whole foods. We fell asleep on the way there and only woke up when mum reach Target. We played with all the trucks and cars there til we have to go for dinner.

We went to Cupertino Square to get out from the cold. We stroll in the mall and saw many new sofas. We stop in front of the AMC ticketing booth for a rest and look down to see grannies and grandpas exercising with dumb bells at the atrium below.

We tried the new sofas. Some give off sound and some dont when we sit on them.

We walked to the library. After borrowing our DVDs, we played football with a playground ball. We had so much fun kicking to one another.

Then we bought a bagel for lunch. We toast the bagel halves and mum spread the jam on the bagels for us. We ate our bagels, wash our hands and then continued kicking the ball.

We went to the toy shop to play for an hr before strolling to walgreens. We fell asleep on the way there. Got choc milk from there and WK woke up right after mum paid money.

We went to Borders for storytime and we were the only ones there. We had a fun time moving the 6 wooden chairs for storytime and then pushing the chairs back to their original places after storytime.

We went to Macdonalds for lunch with Auntie S. Little D was so excited at watching so many people buying food and eating. Mum made us little boats out of a macdonalds brochure. We had fun sailing our boats on the table.

Later we had pizza samples at trader joes and got stickers from the cashier. We had fun sticking the stickers on our stroller on the way to Target. WK finish all his stickers and he use the sticker strip as a airplane. "Double Trouble. Airplane is landing", WK said.

We woke up at 8.50am today. We use our bowling pins to hit the ball so that the ball will row to one another.

Then we had snowman shaped peanut butter sandwich. it was fun watching mum using the snowman mold to make snowman shaped bread. sometimes we have moon shaped bread.

Now having a bath. We use our easter egg halves to scoop bubbles into our clean yoghurt cups. We are also making little waves in the bath tub.

We went to a birthday party for 4 kids. We ate lots of different stuff. then we have a easter eggs hunt. we didnt get many eggs this time but it was fun.

We saw the older kids hit the pinata to try to break it. its kind of scary seeing kids whack a big Dora. I dont dare to look. Finally the pinata break and an uncle pour out the candies from the pinata. Finally more candies to eat.

We had the birthday cake blowing and get to eat the big birthday cake. Then it was time to leave to get our groceries done.

Went to the Bay Area Summer Camp Fair. saw kids doing cartwheels and a large yellow snake. most things were for older kids. we went to Party America to get chocolates for the easter eggs.

We had a fun time at the home safety road show. we had to shine our torchlights at the exhibits.

When we reached home, we help mum and dad put the chocs into the easter eggs and put a sticker so that we know those eggs already have chocs. it was fun but we got bored after stuffing 40 eggs.
